Plainfield Man Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident
A 48-year-old Plainfield man was struck and killed Wednesday on Route 22 in Branchburg. According to the Branchburg Police Department, the man was struck by a white Ford Econoline van while walking in the middle of the highway’s westbound lanes just past France Drive. He was found lying face down in the median and rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset with severe injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The 60-year-old van driver and one passenger from Whitehouse Station suffered no injuries during the collision. No charges have been filed against the driver. The Branchburg Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) are continuing to investigate the incident.
Officials are requesting anyone with information on the crash to contact the Branchburg Police Department.
