On Tuesday morning, multiple people were hospitalized following a fiery multi-vehicle crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Camden County. According to the New Jersey State Police, the crash occurred around 2 a.m. near Interchange 3 in Barrington and ignited a fire that temporarily shut down all northbound lanes for hours.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported at least six individuals to area hospitals, with one reported to be in critical condition. Two vehicles were heavily damaged by fire, and police were seen searching the wooded area near the crash site.
While officials have not confirmed what led to the collision, it remains under investigation. A second, unrelated crash occurred a few hours later further north in Burlington County.
Accidents are common on the New Jersey Turnpike and often involve high speeds, limited visibility, poor driver behaviors, and sudden lane changes, all of which increase the risk of collisions and serious injuries.
In the aftermath of any serious crash, especially one involving multiple vehicles and fire, injuries can range from minor to life-threatening. Even minor accidents can result in common conditions such as whiplash, fractures, and head injuries. RAM Law details some of the most common car accident injuries and what symptoms to watch for in the hours and days following a collision.
