RAM Law Associate Matt Bonanno settled a workers compensation claim, after starting trial, for permanent total disability. The client injured his low back in 2009 while employed as a custodian, when he attempted to lift a garbage can. The case was previously settled in 2014, and the client reopened his case because his injuries had substantially worsened, necessitating low back surgery. The insurance company for the employer failed to make any settlement offer prior to the start of trial. After the client testified, the insurance company agreed to pay total disability to the client. The total disability settlement amounts to a total of $281,506.50, and will entitle the client to ongoing medical and disability benefits for his entire life.
