The RAM client was involved in a crash with another car that disregarded a stop sign. The client suffered a dislocation of his second toe which required surgery. The client also suffered an aggravation of a prior knee injury. Prior to the crash, the client had undergone numerous viscosupplement injections. His prior orthopedist also discussed with him the need for a total knee replacement. The pain increased following the crash, requiring more injections, an arthroscopic surgery and a continuing recommendation for a total knee replacement. The other driver had a primary auto insurance policy and an excess umbrella policy. We previously settled for the entire $500,000 of available coverage from the auto carrier. We were set to try the case against the excess coverage when they offered an additional $450,000 to settle.
