The majority of motorcycle accidents in New Jersey involve other vehicles. Speeding, driver distraction, and alcohol use are the top factors in most crashes. Accidents between motorcycles and cars often result in the motorcycle rider suffering severe injuries due to the lack of protection.

Motorcyclists in New Jersey are 28 times more likely to die in a crash than occupants of the motor vehicle. Motorcycle helmets are required for all riders in New Jersey to enhance safety and significantly reduce the severity of injuries.
