After a motor vehicle accident of any kind, you should seek medical attention immediately, even if you believe your injuries are minor. Certain injuries have delayed symptoms but can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and treated as soon as possible. Obtaining a doctor’s report documenting your injuries, treatment, and recommended procedures or follow-up care is also essential.
Pedestrians in New Jersey are required to use crosswalks when available and yield the right-of-way to vehicles if crossing streets outside of marked walkways. It is mandatory for pedestrians to walk on sidewalks where provided or on the left side of the road facing traffic in the absence of a sidewalk.
Pedestrians must also obey traffic signals and signs, including the lighted “Walk” and “Don’t Walk” indicators at intersections. Additionally, remain alert to vehicles and other pedestrians around you while walking and avoid distractions that take your eyes off of your surroundings, such as texting.
