New Brunswick, NJ (March 2016) – RAM Law’s clients, a mother and her three children who were tenants of the second story of a two-family house in Plainfield, NJ, suffered extensive injuries before escaping the property. A fire started within a kitchen appliance while the mother was bathing her children, ages 4,6 and 8, and was overcome by flames yet managed to get her three children to safety. She spent 51 days at St. Barnabas Hospital’s Burn Unit, while each of the children received psychological counseling.
The case against the appliance manufacturer for product defects and the landlord for inadequate smoke alarms, was filed by RAM partners Craig Aronow and Ed Rebenack in the Superior Court of NJ in Union County, and settled following jury selection for $1,050,000.
