RAM Law attorneys Matt Bonanno and Jay Mascolo settle bus crash litigation for $400,000 on the first day of trial. The RAM Law client, a police officer, responded to the scene of a car crash on Route 9 in Freehold. After pulling behind the vehicle, he attempted to open his driver’s side door when the door was struck by a New Jersey Transit bus. As a result of the crash, the RAM Law client underwent two elbow surgeries. New Jersey Transit argued that the crash was the client’s fault for opening the door into the bus. RAM Law maintained that the New Jersey Transit bus driver was negligent for failing to abide by New Jersey’s “Move Over” law and also violated a number safety regulations. After years of litigation and just prior to trial, New Jersey Transit offered $250,000 to settle the litigation. On the day of trial, New Jersey Transit agreed to pay RAM Law’s settlement demand of $400,000.
