RAM Law Partner Matt Bonanno and Lesley O’Neill of PCVA Obtain $8 Million Settlement in New Jersey Foster Care Abuse Case

RAM Law partner Matt Bonanno and PCVA partner Lesley O’Neill recently obtained an $8,000,000 settlement on behalf of a client who was sexually abused by her foster father after she was placed in the New Jersey foster care system at 10 years old. The client endured years of horrific abuse by her foster father due to repeated, systemic failures by the New Jersey DCPP. Despite raising concerns early on, her report went undocumented and unaddressed, and she remained in the home for nearly four years.

The settlement was finalized days before trial was scheduled to begin. The settlement came on the heals of Matt and PCVA partner Vincent Nappo’s $30,000,000 verdict against the Newark Board of Education and City of Newark for a former student abused by a school employee in the 1990s.
